Scald milk in saucepan.  Beat egg yolks with sugar until thoroughly blended. Add to scalded milk. Add salt, blend well. Return mixture to medium heat and cook stirring constantly until mixture thickens, but do not boil.

Bet egg whites until foamy. Add 3 tablespoons sugar, beating gradually until stiff peaks form. Fold beaten egg whites into hot milk mixture.

Blend in liquor of choice and serve hot sprinkled with freshly grated nutmeg.
