When purchasing liquors for your New Year party, choose only the types that you are pretty sure that your guests will drink. If you are unsure, it is always a good idea to go with the basics: whiskey, Scotch, rum, vodka, tequila and vermouth. You may want to add beer to your shopping list.

Ensure that you have plenty of mixers on hand. You will need carbonated water or tonic water and of course ginger ale. You will also need plenty of ice. Don't depend on your ice maker to produce enough ice for a party!
