Setting Up Your Bar
|
|
People are tending to drink less alcohol these days, so start your party plans with plenty of wine, bottled water and soft drinks. Remember to make sure that each group of guests has a designated driver. When purchasing liquors for your New Year party, choose only the types that you are pretty sure that your guests will drink. If you are unsure, it is always a good idea to go with the basics: whiskey, Scotch, rum, vodka, tequila and vermouth. You may want to add beer to your shopping list. Ensure that you have plenty of mixers on hand. You will need carbonated water or tonic water and of course ginger ale. You will also need plenty of ice. Don't depend on your ice maker to produce enough ice for a party! If you are planning on making cocktails, it's always a good idea to have the garnishes prepared in advance. Depending on your choice of cocktail offerings you will need lemon or lime peels, cocktail olives and onions and maraschino cherries. You will also need toothpicks, cocktail napkins, and a corkscrew. If you are planning on serving frozen drinks such as margaritas or daiquiris, you will need your blender nearby. |
